Dr Baoyu Gao is Professor of Environmental Engineering of Shandong University. From January of 2001 to 2012, he served as Dean of the School of environmental science and engineering, Shandong University, P.R.China. He received his B.S. in Chemistry in 1982 from East China Petroleum Institute, Shandong, China, M.E. in Environmental Engineering in 1987 from East China University of Chemical Technology, Shanghai, China, and Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering in 1999 from Tsinghua University, Beijing, China. Dr. Gao has conducted more than 50 funded research projects. His research and consulting experience includes the preparation and properties of new kinds of coagulant/flocculant and adsorbents, coagulation/ flocculation and adsorption for water and wastewater, water and wastewater treatment technology. He is widely known for his research on the preparation, properties and behavior of new kind of coagulants/flocculants in water and wastewater treatment. Up till now, Dr.Gao has published 588 peer-reviewed papers in the high-impact national and international journals, and has received more than 20 awards from international, national, ministerial and provincial government and obtained 85 patents for the chemicals and technology for water and wastewater treatment. He is currently a member of management committee on Chemical Industry group of International Water Association (IWA), a member of International Water Association (IWA), the member of Chinese Society of Environmental Science; deputy director of the Industry Water Treatment Branch, Chemical Industry and Engineering Society of China; Standing Member of the Applied Chemistry Committee, Chinese Chemical Society, etc.. Currently, he serves on the editorial board of 12 national and international journals, including ※Journal of Water Sustainability§, ※Journal of Environmental Sciences-China§, ※China Environmental Science§, ※Chinese Journal of Environmental Engineering§ and ※Environmental Chemistry§, etc.
